USA, United Students Association, Inc.
is a Texas non-profit, Christian-based, tax-exempt, public benefit
educational and cultural organization, which sponsors international
exchange students. The USA corporate office is located in Mansfield,
Texas.
The purpose of our program is to promote and
increase cultural understanding, awareness, and acceptance.
Additionally, USA assists in development of peaceful, friendly
relations between the U.S. and other nations. All international
students in the USA program will be exposed to a daily learning
experience in the United States. This cultural immersion experience
will increase their knowledge of people, customs, and a culture
that are different from their own. Additionally, language abilities
of students will be enhanced and become significantly more efficient.
USA is fully responsible for the welfare of
the students participating in our program by providing total
support to the students, host families, local representatives,
and school authorities throughout the international students’
stay in the United States. USA guarantees the financial support
for all program participants, including full coverage medical,
liability, and accidental death insurance and return airfare
upon completion of the academic year program.
The USA staff is committed to excellence in
serving everyone involved in the exchange program. We work as
a team, continually building and refining the USA program through
evaluating present and past experience. We will progress into
the future with the assurance that all of our students will
benefit from and receive the utmost in quality offered from
USA.
As our logo states, USA is “Stepping into the
Future” with all who participate in our program. By granting
all of our students the opportunity for personal growth, enhanced
communication skills, academic development, and cultural understanding,
we serve as a major stepping stone for each of their futures.
We intend to help build brighter, more fulfilled futures for
all of those who participate in USA’s international student
exchange program.
Purpose and Objectives
USA has made a commitment to serve everyone
participating in our student exchange program with the utmost
in excellence. The program is designed to promote a future of
greater cultural understanding and world peace through bringing
people of different cultures together for the purpose of personal
development, improved communication skills, academic progress,
and cultural understanding. International secondary students
will be immersed into the American culture. The learning process
will be a continuous one for the students, as well as for the
host families. Each of our students will reside in carefully
chosen host family homes and study in a local high school. Each
is given the opportunity to stay for one semester and, if earned
and deserving of, the student will be rewarded with the opportunity
to complete a full academic school year.
The international students will help bridge
the gap that exists between people of differing cultures through
sharing their own culture with their host families, friends,
and classmates in the United States. Simultaneously, the students
will be absorbing an enormous amount of information regarding
the American culture. “Stepping into the Future” is what USA
is all about. Our students, and everyone involved in the exchange
program, will be taking a large step to build a future of greater
cultural awareness and peace. The specific areas of growth on
which we concentrate include the following:
- Personal Development All students
in the USA program will be faced with numerous opportunities
for personal development. They will be immersed into a culture
and lifestyle which is different from that to which they are
accustomed, without the support system on which they have
relied in the past. Students will mature in their decision-making
and problem-solving skills, become more self-reliant and self-motivated,
and improve in their social interaction skills.
- Communication Skills One of the primary
goals of USA’s student exchange program is for our international
students to improve their proficiency in the English language.
Being exposed to the English language on a twenty-four hour
daily basis, both at home and at school, students will more
readily learn and comprehend the language, as well as express
themselves. They will be provided ample opportunities to share
themselves and exchange information with others through communication
- Cultural Understanding The very nature
of USA’s student exchange program is to bring individuals
from different background together for the purpose of promoting
cultural understanding and academic development. By taking
part in our program, students and host families alike will
gain a new perspective on viewing cultures that differ from
their own. Through daily observation of and participation
in the American lifestyle, our international students and
host families will come to a deeper, more conclusive understanding
of what their own cultural norms, accepted ways of life, and
customs are. This knowledge will better enable them to accept
and appreciate different ways of life throughout the world.
- Academic Progress Academic progress
is a top priority of USA. We place a great emphasis on our
students’ obtaining and maintaining acceptable, passing grades
in all of their classes. Students will be challenged academically
in a variety of subjects. Their concentration is essential
since all classes are conducted in English, and some terms
may not yet be familiar to them. USA will monitor the progress
and performance of each student on a monthly basis to ensure
that the students are diligently applying themselves. By doing
so, the students will be successful in advancing academically
with knowledge that will enrich their lives.
- USA's main objective for all of our
students is that they will return to their home countries
and excersice the skills and knowledge acquired in the U.S.
to benefit their home countries and communities.
